Summer Songwriter’s Night

Bren104Music lovers, get ready! Summer Songwriter’s Night is close approaching and is planned for June 7 at Peggy’s Field, 2759 Pulaski Highway in Columbia.

Artists performing will be Tony Arata and Mark D. Sanders, both members of the songwriter’s Hall of Fame, and Andy Childs (from television’s Nashville). Childs has opened with Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Clint Black, Trisha Yearwood, Tanya Tucker and Charlie Daniels Band and “puts on a hell of a show,” organizers said. Arata is probably most noted for writing Academy of Country Music Song of the Year, “The Dance,” performed by Garth morg194Brooks, but he has a long list of number one hits under his belt as well. Hits by Sanders, four-time CMA Triple Play award winner for writing three #1 songs in a 12 month period, include “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack and “Blue Clear Sky” by George Strait. A backstage pre-show party is planned at the pool house of Helen and James Fleming at 2735 Pulaski Highway from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. The show starts at at Peggy’s Field at 6:30, and a southern buffet will be included with the price of the ticket. Summer Songwriter’s Night will benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) advocating for children and The Foundation for Geriatric Education (TFGE).
