jimazbillLINDEN, TN – It is with heavy hearts that the Town Of Linden confirms the passing of our sitting Mayor and friend, Mr. Jim Azbill. Mayor Azbill passed away January 28th at Vanderbilt University Medical Center following complications from an accidental fall.
Mayor Azbill honorably served the Town of Linden and Perry County Tennessee for decades. Since his election in 2002, Mayor Azbill has spearheaded a complete transformation of downtown Linden, TN. His tireless efforts brought numerous infrastructure projects, new business and industry, and an energy that fueled civic pride and commerce. Mayor Azbill was a fixture at local events, wearing his signature suspenders and large bill hat.

Among the many elements of his local legacy will be the upcoming Blooming Arts Festival: An annual local event that brings thousands to the revitalized town square each March. Azbill served on countless community boards. Among them, The Perry County Medical Center, The Perry County Chamber of Commerce, Perry Interactive, Vision Perry, the Tennessee River Trails Association and many, many more. He was a leader in Linden’s First Baptist Church.
